Facilitating the SIMHA-QUEST ALLIANCE TRAINING
Shamili, one of the co-founders of Cozyhope, facilitated a 30-hour training program in the regional language Telugu for community facilitators of The organization called Quest Alliance. These facilitators work as teachers with the children in communities that Quest Alliance works with. The project was in collaboration with SIMHA (The School Initiative for Mental Health Advocacy), a field action project of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). SIMHA is a mental health advocacy, research, and capacity-building initiative to promote well-being of children and adolescents across schools and other communities. Their work is driven by values of sustainability, integrity, collaboration, diversity, intersectionality, equity, and social justice. Shamili had facilitated the training on enabling the skills of the facilitators to provide psychosocial support to children, identifying and providing support in the face of trauma, holding space for grief and loss, ways of encouraging resilience in children, identifying and providing crisis support to children in dangerous situations and self care through doing such important work. The training happened online in 2021 amidst the COVID pandemic, where the need for supporting children going through the collective trauma of the pandemic, loss and grief and being in violent homes or crisis situations were recognized.

Lead Facilitator for School Mental Health ProgrammE

Shamili in 2022, was the lead facilitator for the school mental health program for mental health awareness and sensitization for the teachers and other staff of schools under Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (APSWREIS). This project was lead by SIMHA, the field action project of TISS. Shamili accompanied the team of SIMHA for a needs assessment before the program was designed and facilitated the training in Telugu. The themes of the training included awareness around mental health, risk and protective factors in children's lives, the common mental health concerns visible in the classrooms and how they can be identified and supported, creating trauma informed classrooms, ensuring safety, healthy development and well being of children by enabling a whole-school approach to mental health.

workshop on therapeutic interventions for people who have experienced csa
Snehal and Shamili, co-founders of Cozyhope along with Viji Ganesh, Personal Safety Coach and Sexuality Educator, facilitated the workshop "Know the dynamics of CSA" at the Government Observation Home for Boys in Madiwala. The workshop was held on September 9th, 2023 and was organised by the Project Maanasa team in collaboration with Dr. Kalpana P, member of the Juvenile Justice Board, Centre for Child and the Law, NLSIU. The workshop covered important topics related to Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) and was attended by 16 participants.
Shamili and Snehal spoke about the therapeutic interventions for people who have experienced CSA. They conducted activities and role plays to demonstrate the same. They highlighted the need to create a safe therapy space, avoid re-traumatization, and keep safety and sensitivity at the forefront.
The workshop ended with a certificate distribution ceremony.

workshop on gender with stIr education
Cozyhope facilitated a workshop on Gender for STiR Education. The workshop was conducted twice— offline with 18 participants and online with 22 participants. It was held on 27th October 2023 (Online) & 30th October 2023 (Offline) and STiR Education. The offline workshop was held at 91 Springboard, Indiranagar.
Both the workshops were conducted for two hours, with a 30-minute break. Overall, the workshop covered the theme of gender and provided a holistic understanding of the same. Biological sex vs Gender, Genderbread person, Charmed circle, Intersectionality, Equity vs. equality, Workplace biases and prejudices, and Gender Affirmative workplace practices were the sub-themes covered.
The workshop included discussions, activities, information giving, and roleplay and helped the participants broaden their understanding of gender and its implications in their workplace.
