Mental healthcare for the deaf community

This article co-authored by Snehal and Madhumitha has been published in the Mariwala Health Initiative Journal's Issue No.3 in September, 2020 titled "Reframe: Beyond Clinical Contexts".  It throws light on the mental health care needs and challenges of the deaf community and discusses potential solutions for meaningful inclusion.

Experiences of non-birthing partners

Snehal Padhye, who is currently engaged in a fellowship in perinatal mental health, spoke on the podcast "Mothering", which is hosted by Ms. Veena Hari, a psychologist. Snehal spoke about the impact of the changes after the birth of a baby on the entire family unit- specifically, the non-birthing partner. Bringing her wisdom and experience, she also nudged people to reflect on when the journey of parenthood actually begins – when the baby is in the womb or way before that- when the baby is just an idea. A mother of a teenager herself, she also shared how she navigates motherhood and being a therapist and how these roles inform each other.

Role of books in a young reader's life

The article titled "Taking stock of newer Indian books for 12 to 18 year olds that deal with the many aspects of being a young person today", authored by Ms. Menaka Raman, was published in the Hindu newspaper in January, 2022. 

 

In this article, Snehal throws light on how the books read by adolescents she works with as a therapist, help in creation of safe spaces for them to talk about difficult topics like sexuality and gender identities. She also talks about the feelings linked with the experiences of these topics and the potential role modelling that the books can provide to young readers.

Loneliness and Solitude

In this anecdotal article, Snehal talks about her experiences with loneliness and solitude. She expands on these themes by talking about her mother, clients and herself. Snehal also explores the key differences between the two themes by relating them to the feelings associated with each.
